There is a wide fan of olive oil production companies which offer the highest quality requested in this sector, as "Sociedad Coop. Virgen del Castillo", "Aceite de Oliva Virgen Peñillas", "Gomeoliva, S.A.", "Cooperativa Agrícola de Rute" and "Aceites Hermanos Benítez Rodríguez, C.B".

There are two important denominations of origin in this zone:

· Baena (Includes Zuheros, Luque and Doña Mencía)
· Priego (Includes Priego de Córdoba, Carcabuey, Fuente Tójar and Almedinilla), considered as one of the best in the world due to its low acidity and high quality collecting process.


As a result of the presence of goats' s flocks in this zone, we produce, as well, some of the best artisan cheeses included in the Mediterranean diet. Some companies as "Quesería de la Sierra Subbética" offer a wide range of artisan cheeses which are produced using first quality ingredients.


The typical candies of this area have reached the national recognition thanks to some familiar companies that stand the traditional and artisan processing methods. Some of these companies are "La Flor de Rute", "La Vega de Zagrilla", "Productos Garrido", "Chocolates de la Subbética" and "Pastelería la Fuentesita".




There are wines with its denomination of origin like Montilla or Moriles whose quality becomes represented by its recognised paper as regulating advisors. Liquors and anises that have made the town of Rute an emblematic place for writers, experts and general public. From all the wine, liquor and anises producers we emphasize companies like "Destilerías Duende" and "Anís y Licores Machaquito" whose wide variety and range of products are two of the most recognised in the national scope.


The inlays and hams processed by "Jamones Rute" and "Jamones Rubio" according to the Subbeticas' artisan tradition and the wide range of aperitif supplies by "Productos Muñoz" are - among other - typical gastronomycal products of the zone.
